Equities
For the month of December 2011, the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 1.4%, the S&P 500 increased 0.9% and Nasdaq Composite Index decreased 0.6%. During the same period, the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) averaged 25.0.
Knight's equities volumes were as follows:
Knight Direct recorded average daily equities share volume in December 2011 of 203.7 million, down approximately 6.1% from 216.8 million in November 2011, and up approximately 30.4% from 156.2 million in December 2010.*
In equities, there were 21 trading days in December 2011, 20.5 days in November 2011 and 22 days in December 2010.
Foreign Exchange
In foreign exchange, there were 22 trading days in December 2011, 22 days in November 2011 and 23 days in December 2010.

| • | Average daily U.S. equities trade volume in December 2011 was 3.5 million, down approximately 15.5% from 4.1 million in November 2011, and up approximately 8.2% from 3.2 million in December 2010. |
| • | Average daily U.S. equities share volume in December 2011 was 2.9 billion, up approximately 3.0% from 2.8 billion in November 2011, and down approximately 47.8% from 5.5 billion in December 2010. |
