Volume Statistics

Knight Capital Group, Inc. (June 13, 2008) (Nasdaq: NITE) today posted monthly U.S. equity volume statistics for the month of May 2008 on its web site.

For the month of May 2008, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 1.4 percent, while the S&P 500 Index and the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 1.1 percent and 4.6 percent, respectively.
 
"We continued to build U.S. equity volumes in May despite a backdrop of mixed trading activity and relatively low volatility in the market," said Thomas M. Joyce, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Knight Capital Group. "Broad stock market volumes were flat month-over-month and the VIX stayed below 20 for the first time since the onset of the credit crisis last summer."

   Average daily dollar value traded in May 2008 was $17.9 billion, up approximately 13.9 percent from $15.7 billion in April 2008 and up approximately 73.8 percent from $10.3 billion in May 2007.

   Average daily U.S. equity trade volume in May 2008 was 1.9 million, up approximately 15.6 percent from 1.7 million in April 2008, and up approximately 62.6 percent from 1.2 million in May 2007.

   Average daily U.S. equity share volume was 4.1 billion in May 2008, up approximately 20.5 percent from 3.4 billion in April 2008, and up approximately 2.9 percent from 4.0 billion in May 2007.

There were 21 trading days in May 2008, 22 in April 2008, and 22 in May 2007.
