Knight believes in the value of giving back to the communities in which we live and work. Our employees not only give financially, but also give of their time and energy through mentoring and other volunteer programs.
Knight focuses our giving on children’s causes, local organizations and environmental issues. We also encourage individual charitable giving by supporting causes important to our employees.
As a firm, Knight is a contributor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The Ronald McDonald House and Autism Speaks. We help the local community of Jersey City by giving to St. Anthony High School, The York Street Project and other neighborhood groups. We are also committed to communities where we have regional offices by helping organizations such as Big Brothers, Big Sisters of New York City and Massachusetts Bay and The Special Olympics of Connecticut.
Beginning in April, Knight’s Institutional Client Group is partnering with Charity Water. For each share that an institution trades on Knight’s electronic platform in 2009, we'll make a donation to fund sustainable water projects in developing nations. In May, the employees of Knight Libertas, based in Greenwich, Connecticut, donated a portion of their monthly earnings to the New Haven HomeOwnership Center's Rescue Fund. The Rescue Fund gives assistance to families throughout Connecticut who have been impacted by the mortgage crisis. Approximately 40 families who are in danger of losing their homes will receive assistance through the success of this campaign.
