| Knight Adds International Sales Trading Team to Institutional Client Offering |
JERSEY CITY, N.J., Jul 9, 2003 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Knight Trading Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NITE) today announced that it has hired an established team of institutional sales trading professionals with expertise in international equities, including locally traded shares worldwide and American Depository Receipts (ADRs). The five-person team joined Knight from Citigroup Inc. Robert P. Roberto, 43, was named Managing Director of International Sales Trading and will lead the team. He was responsible for launching Smith Barney's international sales trading business in 1992. Harry T. Bourque, 40, named Director, International Sales Trading, worked with Mr. Roberto to start the unit in 1992. He also worked in international sales trading for UBS Securities and in U.S. equity sales trading for Lehman Brothers. Conrad J. Hopkins, 32, Vice President, International Sales Trading, has worked in international equities for four years with Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup and for three years before that with Morgan Stanley. Douglas T. Modico, 41, Director, International Sales Trading, has worked in international sales trading for Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup and HSBC after starting his career at PaineWebber, where he worked for nine years. Michael J. Varano, 34, Director, International Sales Trading, has spent his career in international sales trading at Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup, Deutsche Bank Securities and HSBC Securities. The international sales trading team, based in Knight's Jersey City, N.J. headquarters, will report to Gregory C. Voetsch, Senior Managing Director and Head of Sales. Robert P. Roberto Robert P. Roberto, 43, has more than a decade of experience building and managing international sales trading operations. Robby joined Knight after more than 12 years with Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup, where most recently he was the firm's Managing Director of International Sales Trading. In early 1992, Robby was responsible for launching Salomon Smith Barney's international sales trading business. Through mergers and strategic hires, he helped to grow what started as a nascent offering -- international equity sales trading for U.S.-based institutional clients -- into a 24-hour global operation. Robby's responsibilities included management of a London sales trading desk, part of the worldwide operation. Before he started his career in the securities industry, Robby worked in importing and international marketing. He has a B.A. in History from the University of Rhode Island.
Harry T. Bourque Harry T. Bourque, 40, joined Knight from Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup where he was a Director of International Sales Trading. In early 1992, Harry was involved in the creation and launch of Salomon Smith Barney's international sales trading desk. Over the last decade, he has been responsible for the firm's institutional accounts throughout North America. Prior to joining Salomon Smith Barney, Harry was a Vice President and International Sales Trader for UBS Securities. For six years, he covered the firm's U.S. accounts on international stocks. Harry also worked in U.S. equities sales trading for Lehman Brothers' high-net-worth business. Harry has a B.A. in History from Dartmouth College, where he played varsity football and lacrosse.
Conrad J. Hopkins Conrad J. Hopkins, 32, joined Knight from Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup where he was a Vice President of International Sales Trading for four years. He also worked in international equities at Morgan Stanley for three years prior to joining Salomon Smith Barney. Conrad started his career trading foreign exchange cash and derivative products for Sumitomo Bank in New York. Conrad received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Hofstra University.
Douglas T. Modico Douglas T. Modico, 41, was a Senior International Sales Trader at Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup for four years until joining Knight. Prior to joining Salomon Smith Barney, Doug was a Senior Sales Trader in International Equities for HSBC, where he worked for five years. He began his career at PaineWebber where, from 1985 to 1994, he held various positions ranging from Management Associate to Buy-Side Trader for the firm's mutual funds. Doug has a B.A. from the State University of New York College at Cortland and an M.B.A. from Fordham University.
Michael J. Varano Michael J. Varano, 34, has spent his career in international sales trading. For four years before joining Knight, Michael was a Director of International Sales Trading at Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup. Michael started working in international sales trading as a Vice President at HSBC Securities for two years. He left to join Deutsche Bank Securities' international sales trading unit as a Vice President until, after two years, he left for Salomon Smith Barney.
