| Knight Introduces Institutional Options/ETF Sales & Trading Team |
New Team Established to Support Knight's Efforts to Increase Sales and Trading Offerings to Institutional Clients JERSEY CITY, N.J., Mar 5, 2003 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Knight Trading Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NITE) today announced the creation of an Institutional Options and Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) Sales and Trading team with six hires and a promotion, effective immediately. Kevin D. Klenke, 43, was named Senior Vice President and Head of Institutional Options/ETF Sales and Trading. Mr. Klenke has more than 15 years in listed options and most recently managed institutional options and ETF sales and trading operations for Merrill Lynch & Co. Knight's new team includes four additional hires from Merrill Lynch. Vice President and Operations Manager Stephen A. Arellano, 43, is a 14-year Merrill veteran; Dean A. Brown, 43, a Senior Vice President, spent more than 20 years as an AMEX options floor broker; George B. Glaraga, 32, a Vice President of Administration; and Scott B. Goldberg, 32, a Senior Vice President who traded options and ETFs before becoming an options sales trader. From Chilton Investment Company, Knight also hired Senior Vice President J. Douglas Smoot, 42, who has more than 20 years experience trading non-dollar products. In addition to these hires, Jeffery E. Christian, 29, former Manager of Options Trading and Operations in Knight's San Francisco office, has been promoted to Vice President. He will relocate to Jersey City to join the team. The team is based in Knight's Jersey City headquarters. Sales reports to Gregory C. Voetsch, Senior Vice President and Head of Institutional Client Group. Trading reports to Peter A. Santoro Jr., Senior Vice President and Head of Risk Management and Options Trading. Kevin D. Klenke Kevin D. Klenke, 43, brings over 15 years experience in listed options to Knight. He created and managed the institutional options effort in his most recent role as Managing Director of Listed Options/ETF at Merrill Lynch. Previously, Kevin spent three years as Senior Vice President Equity Derivatives at Bank of America where he helped develop the firm's listed institutional options business. Kevin was also a Senior Vice President at UBS where he was responsible for listed options sales. Kevin received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from Rutgers University.
Stephen A. Arellano Stephen A. Arellano, 43, is a 14-year veteran of Merrill Lynch. He spent the past four years on Merrill Lynch's Institutional Options Desk as Vice President - Sales Support, where he focused on managing daily trade support. Prior to this position, Steve served as Senior Client Service Representative/Margin Specialist for the Financial Futures and Options Division for ten years. Steve has an Associate Degree in Accounting from New York Community College.
Dean A. Brown Dean A. Brown, 43, joins Knight with more than 20 years experience as an options trader on the American Stock Exchange. He most recently spent three years with Merrill Lynch as Sales Trader - Options and Derivatives and previously held a similar position at Cantor Fitzgerald. As Partner at Israel Englander and Company for seven years, he focused on executing options and equity orders for major institutional clients. Dean also held Floor Broker - AMEX position at Paine Webber. He began his career at Dean Witter as an Institutional Order Clerk and attended Nassau Community College.
Jeffery E. Christian Jeffery E. Christian, 29, started his career with Knight in 1997. Prior to transferring to the San Francisco office to become a specialist on the Pacific Coast Exchange, he spent over three years in Chicago where he was a market maker in OEX, SPX and AOL. Jeff received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from the University of Colorado.
George B. Glaraga George B. Glaraga, 32, comes to Knight from Merrill Lynch where he spent more than four years in Business Support, responsible for the administrative functions of various Equity Groups including Quantitative Analytics, Derivative Sales, Index Products Trading, Global Portfolio Trading/Sales, Convertible Sales and Trading and the Strategic Risk Group. Prior to his position at Merrill Lynch, George served five years in the U.S. Coast Guard. He attended Rutgers University.
Scott B. Goldberg Scott B. Goldberg, 32, spent nearly three years at Merrill Lynch where he was most recently an options/ETF Sales Trader and, previously, a Senior ETF Trader with exposure to all aspects of portfolio trading. Prior to his positions at Merrill Lynch, he was an options market-maker on the AMEX for six years, with a focus on the technology sector. Scott received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Michigan.
J. Douglas Smoot J. Douglas Smoot, 42, has more than two decades of non-dollar trading experience. He most recently spent three years at Chilton Investment Company where he was their Senior Derivatives Trader responsible for non-dollar products. Prior to his position at Chilton Investment Company, Doug spent ten years on the AMEX Floor and seven years at Salomon Smith Barney as a listed option position trader.
